One year ago today Asher and I were down in the corner of our basement as an EF3 tornado swept through our neighborhood.  Thankfully no one was killed or even injured in the storm!  It’s hard to believe it’s been a year because even know on windy days (which we’ve had a lot of this past year) I still get a bit anxious and if it’s windy at night I don’t sleep well, but thankfully it is starting to get better.  Days after the tornado hit I was constantly going over what if’s in my head and thinking of the worst outcome, it was not good for me, but my loving husband reminded me none of those what if’s happened and everything was ok.  Yes, we had extensive damage done to our house and lost personal items but Asher and I were safe and unharmed.  So looking back I’m thankful for the Lord’s protection and the reminder that “things” aren’t important but the people are.  And anytime those what if’s creep into my head I just remind myself how blessed I am.
Below are a few photos from the first few days after the tornado.
This is what I saw when I first looked out the basement window after the tornado. Â I remember thinking “it’s not that bad.” Â However, I had yet to see the upstairs of my house or look down the street.
Asher all bundled up in the basement. Â We stayed in the basement till family arrived.
The yellow cation tape meant that the rescue workers had been to our house.  They kicked in our door in about 5 minutes after the tornado came through to make sure we were ok.
Our mailbox :(. Â It’s been a year and it still isn’t fixed.
This beautiful double rainbow came 2 days after the tornado.
Our house the morning after the tornado.  It may have been a mess but I’m thankful that it was still standing seeing how others in our neighborhood weren’t as fortunate.
Our house the all boarded up the afternoon after the tornado. Â The beginning of the 2 month repair process.
